"In 10 Pilates sessions you will feel a difference.
In 20 Pilates sessions you will see a difference. In 30 Pilates sessions you will have a whole new body." ~ Joseph H. Pilates
She began her 20-year career in 1995 as a fitness instructor for Bally Total Fitness, quickly advancing to Group Fitness Manager of four clubs within three years. During this time, she first encountered Pilates and fell in love with its transformative capacity to heal. She started teaching Pilates Mat and Pilates Reformer classes in 1996, and soon became well-versed in a wide range of applied Pilates techniques and equipment classes including Balletone, Rebounding, and BOSU. In 2000, she took a brave leap and opened her own Pilates studio. She has been richly rewarded many times over by witnessing the physical and emotional transformations in her clients as they recover from injuries, manage their chronic conditions, decrease pain, and gain confidence and self-esteem. She counts athletes of all levels among her clients including weekend warriors, high school swim team members, and professional athletes such as members of the Philadelphia Eagles and an international ice skating team. She also works with all ages. Her clientele range from children who are just beginning their fitness journey to seniors who want to increase mobility. After discovering the Gyrotonic Expansion System several years ago, Laurie was so impressed by the way she felt after her sessions that she resolved to share that experience with her clients. In 2013, she added Gyrotonic to her services, and is currently in the process of adding Gyrokinesis to her program. Laurie also offers a rigorous, in-depth instructor training program what prepares participants to become excellent teachers of the Pilates Method. Her program follows the Pilates Sports Center Education approach, preserving the classic method from the 1920's and adding in contemporary knowledge and principles. The all-inclusive 450-hour program features small class sizes, a thorough review of human anatomy, and training pilates equipment. Participants are ready for the Pilates Method Alliance certification exam at completion. Graduates of her program have moved into successful careers teaching Pilates to clients at local schools, physician's offices, and in Laurie's Pilates Plus studio. Laurie also offers continuing education courses to help instructors maintain PMA certification. Laurie is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE), and is also certified as a Pilates Teacher (Pilates Method Alliance) and a Master Pilates Teacher (Pilates Sports Center). She holds over a dozen certifications in fitness, Pilates, and Gyrotonic and continues her own ongoing training so she can apply advances in exercise science to her practice. She promotes a holistic approach to health and fitness, and develop-s personalized programs to keep the body in harmony and balance. Her mission is to help her clients stay strong structurally and live an active lifestyle regardless of injuries, fitness level, or age. Most importantly, she loves what she does. It's a passion she brings with her every day.
Pilates focuses on alignment during movement, while Yoga focuses on static poses and isometric contractions. Both practices complement each other in different ways with different goals. I am a licensed massage therapist. My goal is to utilize both the movement as well as manual therapy to help clients get out of pain and learn how to move better. AFAA certification: Personal Fitness Trainer, Primary Group Fitness Kickboxing
